QUE HACER EN MENORCA
THE ISLAND
The island has 216 kilometers of varied coastline, abrupt coastline and red beaches to the north, and soft relief, with coves of golden sand, to the south. Whether in large sandy areas or in small coves surrounded by pine trees, you will find many options to enjoy the sun and the sea. But always with the same common denominator: clean and crystal clear waters.
The calmest island of the Mediterranean still keeps hidden corners, coves in which to want to reserve a piece on the shore and places to wish it to be summer all year round.
WHAT TO DO
In Menorca you can practice sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and, of course, diving.
The spectacular seabed of Menorca is, for decades, one of the favorites for diving lovers. This island transmits calm, in good part thanks to its valuable nature. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, Menorca has a great ecological and landscape richness.
Taking a horseback excursion, on foot or by bicycle along the roads and routes established is a good way to get closer to such a beautiful environment.
It highlights, above all, the Natural Park of s'Albufera d'Es Grau, a refuge area for numerous waterfowl and migratory birds that is also one of the most important wetlands in southern Europe.
MAIN AREAS
Another of its attractions is the archaeological and cultural heritage. You will discover interesting monumental sites such as the historic center of Ciudadela, prehistoric remains such as the Naveta des Tudons, sites such as those of Mahón, or even small fishing villages that still preserve the old traditions.
In the Mercat d'es Peix life is celebrated with pomade-local gizzard, the Xoriguer, with lemonade-spiked, and any delicious bite that lies ahead. Of course, the Mahon cheese and the sobrasada can not miss.
If you had some island parents they would say: Seny que de cervell en venen! before a plan of this caliber. Although it is a racket -it is called, literally-, its well-known summer parties that are scattered every weekend in different places of the island ... And in its squares, popular music resonates while the horses walk and jump in them.
Renting a car is a convenient way to get to know the island, since the maximum distance between two points does not exceed 47 kilometers. You can get to Menorca by plane, to the international airport located five kilometers from the capital, Mahón; or also by sea, to the port of Mahón or Ciudadela.
